    Individual Counseling

Have you come to a place in your life where you just don’t feel right?

Perhaps you have been feeling depressed, angry, or anxious. Perhaps you have been unable to recover from a broken relationship. Maybe people have mentioned that you seem off balance. One thing we know about problems is they usually don’t get better on their own. We usually have to take some kind of action to feel better. Like many problems in our lives, we’re often “too close” to the problem to objectively know what to do about it or how to handle it. In individual counseling we focus on some, or all, of the following:

Understanding of your past and the influence it has on you in the present

    Medical/biological influences on your life

Strategies to more effectively deal with your life situations

Individual counseling, (sometimes called “psychotherapy” or “counseling”) is a process through which clients work one-on-one with a trained counselor in a safe, caring, unprejudiced, and confidential environment. During counseling, clients explore their feelings, beliefs and behaviors; work through challenging or influential memories; identify aspects of their lives that they would like to change, and better understand themselves and others. Clients also set personal goals and work toward desired change.

People seek counseling for a wide variety of reasons, from coping with major life challenges or childhood trauma to dealing with depression or anxiety or to simply enhance personal growth and obtain greater self-knowledge.

A client and counselor may work together for as few as five or six sessions or as long as several years, depending on the client’s unique needs and personal goals for counseling.

We often don’t have a great understanding of why we are the way we are or why we feel and act like we do. At MBHA, we will help you discover answers to these questions and develop effective strategies to help you move past whatever is holding you back.
